Pete was fifteen when Henry taught him to DJ.
He would lug in the turntables and amplifier, set it all up, and then sit back to watch Henry orchestrate the dance floor like a puppet master. It was wild and magical. And yet, Pete saw that there was a hidden sophistication to it all, a balanced art to the random chaos.
Since Henry was also a dancer and b-boy, he spent as much time on the dance floor as he did behind the turntables. He would play his favorite song of the moment and then, without warning, disappear into the crowd. The first time he did this, it caught Pete off-guard. Henry hadn’t reemerged in two minutes… Then three. And with the final chorus coming to a close, Pete hurled himself at the turntables, blindly cut to whatever song was queued up next, and became a DJ. It was far from graceful, but even in that haphazard moment, Pete knew that this was something he loved.
Over time, Pete began to expect, and actually encourage, the regular abandonment, and together he and Henry DJed countless parties and events around Boston—long before Pete was old enough to get into most venues. His training came to a close when Henry asked him to DJ his wedding. Four hundred guests, most of whom were professional dancers, piled into the ballroom at the Seaport Hotel in Boston for what was undoubtedly the most legitimate dance party of all time.
In the fourteen years since, Pete has DJed all types of events, ranging from clubs and private parties to live shows and music festivals. Over the years, he’s performed alongside Grammy-nominated artists including Travis Scott, Rick Ross, Rae Sremmurd, Cam’Ron, Jadakiss, Desiigner, Ryan Leslie, Juelz Santana, and A$AP Ferg.
At Q–DJ, Pete ensures that the most beautiful and meaningful days in people’s lives are infused with unique musical curations that reflect their relationship and journey together.
Granted, we are entirely biased, but music really is the most important thing.
The right music will make you dance, it will make you cry, it will make you laugh, and it will make for a night that you and your loved ones will never forget.
We take this business very seriously—to a point. For us, the wedding begins months in advance, when we get to know you, your relationship, and the vibe you are creating for your wedding. We begin this process with a blank slate, ready for messy notes on favorite genres, your top five lists, comical references from your past, and the heartfelt moments you’ve tucked away for safe-keeping.
At no point will you have to say that you don’t want us to play the Cha Cha Slide or the Macarena. Nobody wants those songs and, like we said: blank slate.
Our goal is a heroic dance party that is undoubtedly for you and celebrated by all. To us, there is no better feeling than making the best day of someone’s life truly amazing.
